Born and raised in Evansville Indiana, Katie Johnson is one of 5 raised by a single parent. Life’s challenges of homelessness, poverty, and sexual abuse did not stop her from hurdling any obstacle in her way; literally and figuratively.

 

Katie graduated from William Henry Harrison with a full track and field scholarship to Ball State University where she continued to break atheletic record and academic barriers as a first generation college student. She received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and studied abroad in Australia and South Africa.

Katie believes that life is not about focusing on the negatives of what you have been through but finding the positive in any and every situation. As an educator in an urban charter school, life coach, mentor and motivational speaker, her mission is to help people live fully and freely into the best chapter of their lives.  Her experiences with Teach For America, HerSpace Inc., Big Brother Big Sister, KIPP Schools and Zarvos Leadership and Coaching have demonstrated her commitment to inspiring and touching the lives of others.

As the founder of KLJohnson Motivates, LLC she brings her passion, energy and authenticity to help audiences and groups see beyond their today into their tomorrow. This is no career for Katie. This is her calling.
